Your day-by-day starting point

A practical 10-day route

This is the useful version of the generated Tokyo → Kyoto → Osaka → Nara route. Use it as a daily brief, then open the linked BonAdvisor guides when you want attraction, area and planning detail.

  1. Day 1Tokyo · arrive and orient

Settle into your Tokyo base, keep the first afternoon light and finish around Shibuya Crossing and the surrounding streets.

    Open the full Japan itinerary
  2. Day 2Tokyo · old and new

Pair Senso-ji and Asakusa with a modern-city viewpoint such as Tokyo Tower. Leave room between sights for the city’s shopping arcades and street life.

  3. Day 3Tokyo · capital landmarks

Use the final full Tokyo day for the Imperial Palace area and one neighborhood you want to explore slowly rather than adding another long transfer.

  4. Day 4Kyoto · transfer and first walk

Move west to Kyoto, check in and use the remaining hours for a low-pressure introduction to the historic center.

    See the Kyoto guide
  5. Day 5Kyoto · temples and gardens

Build the day around Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Pavilion, then continue with nearby temples and gardens without trying to cross the whole city.

  6. Day 6Kyoto · gates and bamboo

Give Fushimi Inari’s torii route an early start, then reserve the second half of the day for Arashiyama and its bamboo forest.

  7. Day 7Osaka · arrive hungry

Transfer to Osaka and make Namba your first orientation: neon streets, an easy evening walk and a food-led introduction to the city.

See 30 things to do in Osaka
  8. Day 8Osaka · castle and river city

Start at Osaka Castle, add the nearby OMM Sky Garden for a city view, then slow the pace with a walk through Nakanoshima Park.

  9. Day 9Osaka · neighborhoods and food

Explore Shinsekai and its Tsutenkaku skyline, then return toward Namba for the city’s evening energy and another unhurried meal.

  10. Day 10Nara · day trip from Osaka

Walk through Nara Park, see Todai-ji and continue into Naramachi if time allows. Return to the same Osaka hotel, so you do not move luggage for one day.
